EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an evidence-based therapy that helps people to process traumatic or distressing experiences. EMDR has been demonstrated to be effective for children, adolescents and adults experiencing a range of challenges, including:

-
Trauma or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
-
Rape/sexual assault
-
Anxiety, panic attacks, and phobias
-
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
-
Grief or loss
-
Attachment issues
-
Low self-esteem
-
Stress-related issues
-
Sleep difficulties
“I find EMDR to be a powerful tool. I have used EMDR both as a standalone treatment (e.g. for emetophobia, phobia of needles, and single incident traumas such as falling off a horse) and in conjunction with other therapeutic approaches (e.g. for OCD). EMDR is also a valuable option for clients who struggle to talk about distressing memories, as it is very different from a traditional therapeutic approach which typically involves a lot of talking.”
