Dr Vanessa Hunt
Clinical Psychologist
Vanessa offers one-to-one therapy to both adolescents and adults. She will tailor her therapy style to match an individual's needs and will work together with you or your young person to help you to achieve your goal. Vanessa has worked with a range of diagnoses, specialising in anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, low mood, OCD, psychosis and PTSD.

Vanessa uses her eclectic mix of therapy skills, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), cognitive analytic informed therapy (CAT), EMDR, and flash technique (trauma), She also uses dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) informed principles to support clients with issues around distress tolerance, regulating emotions, and interpersonal effectiveness, psycho-social interventions (PSI) for people who experience voice hearing and hallucinations, and other person-centred approaches depending on what seems suitable for the individual.

Vanessa also has vast experience of working with people with neurodevelopmental conditions, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). She is trained in specialist areas of neurodevelopmental assessment. Whilst Vanessa does not provide full neurodevelopmental assessments in her private practice, she can offer neurodevelopmental screening assessments. This can help parents to experience speedy and reliable guidance as to whether your young person would require a referral for a full neurodevelopmental assessment or if a differential diagnosis can be discussed without advancing to further significant and unnecessary costs from a full private assessment. These appointments are up to three hours long.

Vanessa can see you online (or in York, where she is based). Vanessa accepts self-funding clients and those registered with the insurance companies Aviva, WPA, AXA Health and Bupa.
